Sponge?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if sponges can harm a coral? I have one growing on the rock base of one. Also does anybody know what kind of coral this is? I have had it for 7 months now, it came with the LR that i bought then.

The coral looks like a Galaxia. You have nothing to worry about with the sponge

A Galaxia can pretty much take on all comers. Keep it at least six inches from your other corals and watch the sweepers. In my opinion it is the most agressive corals you can get.

im pretty sure thats a torch coral (Euphyllia glabrescens). and the sponge should not be a problem for it.

I vote galaxia and sponge.

I think its a toss up between hydophona and galaxia as far as aggresiveness. Both can be wicked.

That's definately a Galaxia. And I hope for your sake its a sponge and not some hitchhiking bryopsis.
