its a commensal shrimp.they live with and in the clam and will help clean the gills and can protect the clam from some predators. also they are rare.

I had the same shrimp but mine had bright red dots instead of black. The clam has since died so I'm not sure what has happened to the shrimp. Can they survive without the clam?

i have the sam one. i dont know what they do without a clam but the squammy he was in died so he jumped over to his current home in the crocea. ive even seen him hangin out in the blastos right beside the crocea.
