Spring frag swap! 05/18/13 @ the odeum

That doesn't make sense. If you had a basket with one pack of rods food in it people would only put a few one dollar tickets in it to win. The club might decide to do 20 baskets all containing 1 type of food or cheaper item. I would probably put 2 bucks in tickets spending 40 bucks throughout all 20 baskets. The bigger ticket items let's say pumps might require 5 dollar tickets. And really big ticket items likeva biocube or tank might require 10 dollar tickets. Me personally I would probably buy 2 of those tickets at the chance I win a tank. I would spend more on the 5 dollar ticket baskets for more chances. I would drop a lot of cash a divide it all over. This system prevents one person with 400.00 from winning everything.

Let me know what is to be raffles and ill detail out the entire system. Use it or not but it will be easy to understand.

Example of how the raffle could work

Money Vouchers will be sold in $1.00, $5.00, and $10.00 vouchers. Please write name and contact info on the back of the voucher. Place voucher in the baskets you would like a chance to win. Be sure voucher amount and basket amount match to be eligible. You can use as many vouchers in a single basket as long as they match. Baskets available to win are as follows

All baskets listed below are for $1.00 vouchers

Basket #1 Rods food
Basket #2 Rods food
Basket #3 Rods food
Basket #4 C-Balance A+B
Basket #5 Fuel
Basket #6 Purple up
Basket #7 frozen krill

All baskets listed below are for $5.00 vouchers

Basket #1 Tunze pump
Basket #2 CPR HOB skimmer
Basket #3 CPR HOB Fuge
Basket #4 Marineland 30" PC lighting
Basket #5 Koralin Pump
Basket #6 Wave Maker

All baskets listed below are for the $10.00 dollar voucher

Basket #1 BioCube
Basket #2 MP10ES
Basket #3 MP10WES
Basket #4 120 w LED fixture

This is just an example of how the baskets and vouchers could be structured. Maybe by writting it out this way people will understand a little better.

This sounds like a great idea IMO .

Please start a new thread on this topic....I am listening.
Another Idea is to have blind auctions...and/or a live auctioneer...I am looking ito this for another organization and will bring the cost/few for something like this to the board. ;)

They should do 4 a year. That would be worth it then. I am sure they would all be attended...

No Worries Sunkmere....I don't take any of this personal. I just do the best I can and do what I feel is right...I'm responsible for the effort, not the results! ;)

@Ypgpshio
I agree the past practice has been that way, some by and meet the new team. Tom, our accountant is a CPA! If we can't get a detailed treasures report out of him, to show total transparency in our club, We have much bigger problems...There has only been about 4 transactions in the last two months, but I assure your, you will see detailed club financials quarterly at a minimum! And defiantly following big events. ;)

Where is the detailed treasures report out? Its April I would like to see where the money in the club is going, if you want me to be part of it. I do think money disappeared in the club in the past and know alot of raffle items were donated not bought. I dont see what benefit it is to being a club member. I dont think everyone should work for free and if your getting paid let everyone know not like before.

This doesn't really work unless you are doing a raffle where the tix are well more than 1 dollar each. Typically 10 or 20 per ticket.

If they had to fill out each ticket maybe people would be less hesitant to buy 400 of them?

Honestly, it's a totally new regime and they need to have some time to get things ironed out. I won't be attending the frag swap because I just don't have a tank going at the moment. If I did have one going currently I would be fine with the $5 fee even with my membership because the change in venue is likely more expensive.

Maybe CMAS could look into different levels of membership(s) ???

I am halfway page three and my lunch is almost over. Before I throw my thoughts out, allow me to acknowledge that several of you may have no idea who I am, havent been posting in a long long time. For those that know me...whatz up!!
To my point, and I do know something about this
Creating a club or revamping it A LOT OF WORK
Planning and exicuting an event A LOT OF WORK
Answering the inquiries about who said she said A LOT OF WORK.
If $5 is too much to spend, you are in the wrong hobby, if you are upset that the "rules changed" you are in the wrong life. These guys should be thanked for the service they are providing you, and yes its a service, that is updaid. At church we take a free will offering for the elders, a thank you gift for all they do in thier unpaid volunteer role. Where is that for these guys? Alright that wont happen cuz $5 to get into an event is too much, or something, but where is the thank you for the job they are doing. I dont know what happened to the past leaders but in here I read they want nothing to do with the club, wonder why?
Dont come to the swap, dont renew your membership, whatever.
Want a voice, want to be part of the change and the process, join up and serve

And when I saw the thread title I was hoping to see who the sellers were and what cool stuff they have to offer, nothing cool about this thread

Hi, Rob

Didn't you use to host the RockFord Reefers Frag Swap if I remember correctly it use to be a 2 day event?

Ya Rob did and he put it together by himself. I was happy to pay $20 to get in to that swap it was the best one around with the best workshops.

It's nowhere to be found. They claim there's a new board (what, two members changed? or three?) and somehow the ENTIRE organization is different. It takes time, and it takes getting beaten up like this for any real change to happen.

If they're unwilling to listen to this, then they don't deserve my time or money.

And crooks, you should see what Kmiec put on the other site.... OMG....

I cant see what he put on the other site and I am not paying $20 just to see nothing has changed. Its amazing that joliet reef club can show everything to everyone but cmas cant. Chicago politics even on a reef site. awesome.

It wasn't on the cmas site it was on the other local site where you have been missed Matt.
