I have been dosing my tank with the two part B-Ionic for the last 4 months or so. Had the small bottles and am down to probably 2 doses. My question is, how good is this product or do you guys have another recomendation. Also what is a good magnesium supplement. Thanks for the advice

I used B-ionics for a long time, and changed to BRS 2 part, just to save some money. B-ionics is a great 2 part supplement and have no complaints. As for Magnesium you can get that from bulk reef supply as well.

there are much cheaper alt. use arm&hammer baking soda to raise alk when ph is high, soda ask to rasie alk when ph is low, a blend of mag sulfate and chloride... ive never dosed anything but iodine, later on at the advanced stages ive heard of potassium for color and others for coloring as well.

Baking soda for alk, calcium chloride for calc and epsom salts for mag. Much cheaper than the brand name additives. I think my 2 year supply has cost me only $30. Check out Randy Holmes-Farely's articles for more info. I also dose lugol's solution which is potassium iodide (two birds with one stone there).

I switched from kalk to B-Ionic and couldn't be happier. My parameters are more stable and corals much happier. B-Ionic contains magnesium along with other trace elements, so with this and regular water changes you really shouldn't have to dose any thing else. Yea you can save some money with some DIY products but you will not get the quality and consistency that you get from B-Ionic. Just my opinion though.

B-ionic 2 part contains magnesium? This is news to me... Where does it say that?

You can go with BRS if you don't mind mixing your own to save some money. If your really into DIY you can just use randys 2 part. It's a sticky in the chemistry forum here on RC. Trace elements seem to be a mystery for many. Just ask the people who haven't done waterchanges in years O.O

I use Bulk Reef Supply two part. But that's probably because Bulk Reef is like 5 minutes from my house. So I may be biased lol.

I also dose Salifert Corraline Amino Acids. It seems to work well.

IF your demand is lo then the bionics is effective. If your demand is high then its probably worth looking into using the Sodium Bicarb/CA Chloride 2 part s. If you can afford the bionic then its a simple effective solution to maintain Ca/alk. Many people only suppliment Ca and Alk. My system does fine with 10 percent waterchanges weekly and very heavy calcium/alkalinity suppliments only. Nothing else, other than fresh squid and nori is added to the tank.

Its listed in the ingredients along with others. Not sure how much but seems to be enough to keep things in solution.
