Sps and flow

Polyps need to dance, not be blasted over. Also flow from all sides ensures good health of the coral and avoids dead areas of the colony.

Its always been suggest sps's need high flow, the longer I've been reefing the more i believe is isn't 100 percent true.

I also agree that more is not better. I use a Wavebox and this has done more to keep SPS healthy than any kind of powerhead. The slow-back-and-forth really keep the polyps out and grow going. Typically, I have a few other powerheads in the tank to gently/moderately move some water. In my 120, I have a wavebox with a pair of 6105s in there that go from 30 to 45%. In my 240, I have a wavebox with a pair of 6100s that go from 60-90%

The fish don't mind not being blown all over the reef too. Seriously - it is less stress on them and they are out more. The exception: I do have a clown tang that really seems to appreciate the flow, but that is about it.
