SPS and GSP have a similar parameter needed?

Okay, so my tank is doing poorly. Started a few months ago, no reason known. It started with poor polyp extension on an old SPS that has been very hardy (it's pretty mcuh gone now over the past week). As far as I can tell my paremters have been stable for several weeks. I did have a spike of Ca up to somethng like 580ppm. I recalibrated my LM3 and since have had stable parameters. Flow was down but that has been good for several weeks not that I got my Vortech back from repair.

What I did discover was that my lights (T-5s) were pretty old (like 18+ months). They were replaced last week. (TX5 Aquatinic - replaced 3 bulbs, then a week later the other two).

The trange thing is that even now I am getting poor extension on my GSP, STN on my acros (most), bleaching and spotty STN on my plating montis, but some Zoonathids, Yellow polyps, and a Frogspawn all look fantastic. I am really at a loss for what might be going on and it is killign me to see stuff slowly fade away and not know what to do about it.

It's a 50 gal tank, been changing 10 gals once per week.
Last test showed Salinity at 35ppm, Ca 400, Alk 10, Nitrates a tad high at 10 (but that was likely due to my trying to feed Coral frenzy daily to feed the SPS), temp at 78.3, and Mg at 1250.

I am open to any ideas or suggestions you guys might have. I think we all look for the same stuff and I am checking out okay on the main ones. HAd the LFS test my water and they had no real ideas either. External contaminent? Cooper somehow? Nothing that I am aware of has changed. Frustrating....:(.

Open to any thoughts or suggestions.

I've tried the Phosphate stuff in the past for Algae issues (now resolved) with bad results overall on my coral (probably too much too fast). I have not tried GAC, I should do that. I figured 10 gal a week on a 60 gal system should have diluted or removed anything that might have gotton in there by now. I'll look and see if I have any GAC.

GAC is always a good bet... I'd consider a Phospad too as they remove some heavy metals as well as phosphates, it sounds to me like you've got something contaminating your water... Sometimes water changes aren't enough...

Here's a stupid question... Are you using RO water when doing your water changes? Do you make your own, or buy from a LFS?

Could you have been too late on the bulb changes? I did the same thing and changed out my bulbs but I was too late and just watched as most of my SPS died. But my lps didn't even blink..
