SPS and Seahorses (ever been done?)

So - as I plan a new system I am contemplating a lightly stocked SPS tank (say 10 SPS max in a 18" x 18" x 36" tank) with seahorses..................odd I know but is it possible?

Anyone ever tinker with SPS at 72-74 degrees??

Assuming the SPS are well spaced, I suspect the low flow environment would be ok. Slow grown is not a concern...

I want the ponies, but know I can not avoid SPS all together (as I had it pretty bad in the past......).

This system will be lit by T5's.

Interested in any thoughts, I will post pics later of course, I am about 2 weeks away from getting this under way. Tank is already in place. Cheers.

it simply wont work.

like I mean you could place a monti cap right in front of a power head, and call that SPS ... but a SPS garden, or ANY acro, will not work ...

I have both SPS tanks, and seahorses ... temp is not an Issue.

seahorses can take alot of flow ... but not as much as SPS need. I keep my seahorses in a soft coral tank :) [connected to my SPS Reef]

from what I understand.......3-5x's the tank volume for seahorses, so say 250 GPH total for the tank correct

the flow would be random via a 1" sea swirl from the return pump, no powerheads

I always consider flow the 3rd most important variable to colorful healthy SPS, behind water quality and lighting (which I have down).

Flow is much more important once the tank is mature...perhaps I gotta think long term, but U could always prune no?

this is very true, and doable !

seahorse can take more than 5 times flow too ! in one of my 30Gs, I have about 15 times turn over ! 2 pairs of reidis.

next thing would be the seahorse hatching onto sPS .. Im not sure if seahorse or the SPS mind that ! I know NPS cant stand it.

to be honest, now that I think about it more, its doable ! Im gonna put a monti cap frag in my seahorse tank tonight to see what happens :)

as for lighting, LED would be best option to now heat up the water ?

specially for a smaller foot print !
hmmm, lol this got me thinking
