SPS choices...

So, let's say you could only have 5 different corals in your tank, what would they be? I'm pondering having a minimalist sps tank in my 200.

I would for sure put in a Garth Bonsai.
Regular shortcake is nice also wwc red shortcake is all magenta. Hawkins for down low. Hell even a Setosa is sweet and you can put it anywhere and it will grow.

I would always throw in something different, not just all SPS. A large clam for example or an Elegance coral for some movement.

If you only want 5 SPS in your tank, here are my choices.
1) Red Planet ( No sps tank is completed without a Red Planet)
2) Green Acro (Green Slimer or any other green acro)
3) Oregon Tort or Cali Tort ( I have both and I actually like the Cali Tort more)
4) Shortberry ShortCake (There are many color morphs, get the pinkest one)
5) Garf Bonsai or a Purple Monster

If you get a green slimmer get the one with blue tips, I wish I had.

If you're talking about the wwc slimeball, I just got it so it's hard to say. I would say the polyps are insignificant and are not blue. The green color is sweet however.

These are all good choices! I do have a huge torch coral with maybe 100 heads so I could keep that for movement. I'm interested not only in colors but growth types too. Going in a 200 gallon tank so it will be kind of sparse. The dimensions are 54x30x30 inches.

I think you will need more than 5 simple because the tank is longer. I think 5 would look great in a shallow cube though.

I would do something like this for different growth patterns:

- Lime in the Sky stag or an exquisita
- Some sort of shortcake (they are all nice, just your own preference which one)
- RR Orange Passion
- CC Heaven and Hell / Angels and Demons mille
- A. desalwaii (my personal favorite, see my avatar)

Some others if you decide on a couple more...

- Green/yellow A. suharsonoi
- A. humilis
- Cali Tort or a nice A. austera
