Hello to all fellow RC members

I'm looking for advice with a problem I'm having with my SPS Colonies.

They begin to bleach, starting at the base of the colony and it continues upward and thru-out the colony until the entire colony is completed bleached. It doesn't appear to be RTN. I have seen RTN and this does not appear to be the same

Please offer all suggestions and advice.

Thank you

Their are example of photos in SPS keepers when you search for "Bleaching" that are exactly what my SPS colonies look like

Bleaching is something totally different. That is when a coral will expel its zooxanthellae. It would show polyps but be faded or white in color.

You are describing STN = Slow Tissue Necrosis. Your corals are dying from the base up. This could be from many reasons. If you search STN from base up, you will get a million different reasons. IMO, most of the time it is due to high phosphate and low alk coupled with low ph.

Thanks for your input Rich.

I just tested Alk.- 8.4 / PH - 8.0 during the day and drops to 7.9 at night.

What would you recommend to raise PH?

Chris

I never have posted photos on threads before cause I don't know how.

If I knew how I would. Could you advice me on how to and I will

Thanks

Kalkwasser but that can be a PITA. I just dose a relatively small amount on one of my doser modules an that gives me an added bump to my alk and PH.

If this is the issue. it can be so many other things. High nutrients is a common cause since most PO4 testits are very inaccurate.
