I am selling off all the SPS corals from my 220 Gallon Tank. Over 30 different species of SPS coral will be available.
Here is a sample:

Acropora batunai ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ ORA Purple Pillow Top ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¢ Acropora hoeksemai ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¢ Acropora loisettae - 'Steve Elias Stag' Limited
Edition ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¢ Acropora mlipora ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¢ Acropora tenuis ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¢ Acropora tortusa ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¢ Acropora turaki ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¢ Acropora valida ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¢ Montipora
digitata ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¢ Montipora capricornis (Green with Purple Rim, Orange, Green, Purple) ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¢ Seriatopora hystrix ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¢
Seriatopora caliendrum ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¢ Echinopora lamellosa 'Blue Chalice'

These coral have been collected from all over the United States. Many have been grown from small frags
to huge colonies.

This is not a FRAG sale. I am selling off the entire colonies. (Although I do have a few frags that will be sold as well.)
None of the live rock or fish are for sale.

To ensure fairness in everyone getting a chance at the corals they want everything will be sold via auction with
no reserves or minimums. Everything in the tank that day will be sold. (I am keeping the few softies and LPS)

The sale will take place on Saturday June 11th at my home in Longwood. Doors open for viewing at
11:00 am with the sale starting promptly at 1:00 pm.

I will accept Cash and Credit via Paypal ONLY. No checks. A map and directions will be posted 1 week prior to the sale.
PM me with ANY questions.

have you decided on a minimum starting price for the full colonies? sorry but longwood sounds far and I don't want to drive that far if I don't have enough to even start bidding. I have a 265 to fill but just started it so this would be a perfect time if the price is right.
thanks,
robert

My family recently grew by two and I'm simplifying my tank by going back to LPS and Softies.

The starting price for the corals will be $1. They sell for what they sell for. My whole reason for doing it this was is that I've been to a number (way too many) tank sell offs and it always seemed like the nicer corals where being held for someone already. I want to be fair to everyone.

Guys/Gals:
I've been at Jon's house and those pictures dont make any justice,he's a fair man(price) you won't regret.;)

There is a typo in the original post. The correct day/date for the sale is:

Saturday June 17th

Sorry about that.
Jon

Pretty neat. I've recently heard about that ORA Purple pillow top and it seems to be pretty hard to come by. Was this the one that ORA lost in the storms the last few seasons or something?

Aaron

hey aaron it's only the name thats hard to come buy. the coral speciaes itself is brought in from different areas like bali and fiji and I think the marshall islands. marshall islands I think is where ORA has a facility where they grow some of the sps or at least used to. pillow top is only a fun name to add so called worth to a coral. it's the same species and color varient coming in from different importers.
hey I thought the sale was this weekend cool that it's not it will hopefully give me time to get things taken care of and let me come out to at least see the tank before it's taken apart.

Aaron - I had heard that as well about ORA losing thier colony in the hurricanes. I'll find out for sure on June 10th when we goto ORA for a field trip.

Rob - I agree, sometimes the names that get put on some of these corals is crazy. I hope you can make it on the 17th.

Jon

Jon,

First off, AWESOME tank!!!! I hope to have something that looks like that eventually. But it will have to be a ways off.

I will be setting up new system soon. I wish it was already established or I would come to try to buy some of your Montipora capricornis. But it is not set up yet.

I see you are going to go to more of a softy or LPS tank. I do not know much about maintaining SPS, I have only had LPS and softies also. I guess maintain SPS is much more time consuming or expensive? Just want to know so when I get into SPS, I know what I am getting into. (-:

Thanks,
Chris

Jon i noticed you have an anemone tank, what anemones do you have, and are you willing to make a deal on them on the auction date.

Chris - thanks so much. It has been a lot of fun building the tank to the point where it is today. I travel a lot for work so I have collected corals from all over the country. My reasons for the change in direction are twofold. One is that my wife and I recently have twin baby girls. We also have a little buy who is about to turn 2. So as you can image our household is very busy. The second reason is the cost of power to run the tank(s). I currently have 3 X 400 watt Metals Halides over the display, 2 X 175 watt Metal Halides over the frag tank that is plumed inline and a chiller that has to run a lot to keep up. I'm not saying I Progress Energy's best customer but I know I'm up there.

Josh - I responded to your PM and then saw this post. I'm still undecided about the anemone tank. I always have extra Rose BTA that I can sell so if you are interested in one of those drop me a line or give me a call.

Jon

Jon,

Congrats on the new additions. Twins that is awesome. You getting any sleep? (-: I can understand the cost issue. Everytime I calculate cost, I keep thinking I am in the wrong hobby. I am in the the process of setting up a new tank. I really like the SPS, but the cost of lights (not to mention the elecrity) is keeping me from trying many of these light hungry SPS. I will try some of the lower light toleranting SPS. But I plan to keep my tank as budget low as I can. (-:

I hear you on cost, 6 months ago we had a little girl also. Not cheap...

Good luck on the auction.

Chris

If anyone from the area gets the ORA purple pillow top and a piece happens to break off on the way home and you want to sell, LMK!

Chris - thanks so much. Sleep? What's that? Congrats on your little girl as well. Have you joined the NRA yet? :)

All - a little less than two weeks till the sale. Saturday June 17th. I'll post a complete list and directions to my house in a week or so.

Jon

Jon,

NRA. Naw. I just am going to get a nice side by side 12 gauge. I will plan to be on the front porch cleaning it when any possible "boy friends" come by. That should keep all the suitors away. (-:

Rob,

I am going with T-12s for cost. I can buy them at HD for 4 bucks a bulb. I will have to buy a few expensive actinics, but I like the cheap T-12 6500 k bulbs. I am setting up my livestock list so it should be fine under these lights. It worked great on my 55 it shoud work fine on the 120. I am going to repaint the 120 stand, put I hope to get some water in the 120 in the next couple of months. )-: One day....

Chris
