Sps Corals that table.

I've been trying to do some research on corals that table because I'm starting my new collection for my 400g. I think it would be way easier to look for corals i know that table instead of being clueless to what the colonies would look like.

It would be great if you can post pictures of favorite tabling sps corals.

Thanks for your time.

Here a couple in my tank.

Acropora solitaryensis

Not to be a stickler.. but are you sure ones an efflo and ones a soli.. they both look like solis to me. (based on the coralite shape)

I wouldn't say they grow slower just different. The efflo and the hyacinthus are wild so they were already tabling when I bought them. The soli was a frag that as you can see just encrusts forever. Mine is just starting to branch slightly but not very fast.

All those are usually for sale. There are a ton of maricultured "efflos" on live aquaria, or any of the sites that carry maricultured on almost a daily basis now a days, and hyacinthus is the same species as "ORA Red Planet" which is very readily available.

Red Planet's Table.

Rommel's Watermelon's will also table.

As will some Milleporas. This one's called DML08's Milli-Madness.

I asked myself the same question but the branching structure on what I think is a soli is different from the efflo. Both are grown under similar flow so don't think it's due to how much one gets over the other. Another difference is the rate of growth. I find the soli grows at a faster rate than the efflo although that isn't really indicative of a species. Either way you really can never be 100% sure.

Here is a more updated pic of the efflo(?)

Well I don't believe it's as hard to tell the difference as I used to think, at least not according to Verons pictures. Solis have round "nub" like coralites, while efllos are tubular and have sharp edges.

wow nice selection you guys!

To me so far tabling acros tend to have the best coloration and spread. Makes me more excited to collect more of.

I was also wonder this. Would a tabling acro encrust first then grow out ward or grow out with a slower rate of encrustation?

Due to frags that i have been growing lately, I haven't seen much of encrustation but with slightly height growth.
