That would be aweeeeesome sahin!
Wish they can come too!
I'm sure you will take care of the alk level and your colors will come where you like them
Personally i love them already
You are making me want to go back to my BB days and i hate you for that
I am hoping the colours will improve soon. I can see one or two corals already have improved and are showing good colouration. Just need to keep things stable now.
As for BB or sand. Honestly, I would go sanded any day for the aesthetics, but I got Dinos twice previously and I am not taking a chance. So BB for me for this current tank. The April 2014 TOTM had sand and went BB...has a stunning tank too.
He has inspired me glaukos I'm now in the middle of a BB rebuild. Never ran BB before and the more I've been reading into them the keener it has made me to give it a go! Thanks Sahin
Have a read of the April 2014 TOTM if you havent already done so:
http://reefkeeping.com/joomla/index.php/current-issue/article/145-tank-of-the-month
The tank has been BB for around 11 months now. Can you please share why you want to change to BB? I've always preferred sand to be honest, but the BB is sure easier to deal with nutrients.
I'd love to come and see your tank if I had the cash( bello was talking about sending someone on an all expenses paid trip. And all I have to do is get on his bad side lol) maybe one day I can make it over there and meet some of you guys in person
Thank mate. But I dont think Bello would be paying the expense to send you to the UK...the idea is to send "mates" to Australia...the reason for such a holidy is a sinister one...
Sahin, your tank looks amazing. I have been lurking for a while now and you have always been one to comment on good things about any reef tank. I have always looked forward of reading your comments and questions, you are truly a great reefer at heart. I sincerely hope you well and now that I have seen your tank, it is now one of my favorite.
Wow, thats really nice of you to say that.

Thank you. I love this hobby, and try to help others. Ultimately, I would love to see the hobby progress to the point where we KNOW EXACTLY what is needed to colour up SPS corals. That is my dream, seriously.
Hey Sahin, very nice of you to say but all i did was remind you of things you already knew mate, things that got lost in the jumble of techno reefing lol. I'm going to be BB soon btw in my effort to detox the water and the bucket of artificial salt finally came today - who's learning from who........... you have no idea how reassuring it is to have both you and Bello to go to for advice on techniques i'm not at all familiar with
Hey matey, going BB is a very good idea to try and detox your tank. You cant obviously remove the rocks, but the sand having such a great surface area, any toxins if its not just in the water, can also be bound on the sand particles, and removing the sand will also remove much of whatever toxins leached from those
stupid nuclear waste containers. Never listen to Kevin and his stupid ideas...
The nuclear material turning all your acros multi coloured and turning Green Acros to Straberry Shortcakes is yet another of Kevins post kalk sniffing moment idea...
I hope you can swing some more pics soon, they don't have to be professional quality like your first ones ages back - just show us the money !!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll try and post a few this weekend mate.
What salinity are you running atm mate and any particular reason - i've decided to try keeping mine at a level not deadly to acros to see what happens I've always liked 1.0260 but not for any reason that i can really think of.
I have alays run 1.026, but recently started to run 1.025 because of the bottle of Microbelift Special Blend...however, to be honest, I think there is quite a lot of variability/calibration errors/accuracy of equipment etc, that running somewhere around 1.025-1.026 is just fine.
One tip: a few years ago I took a large clean vial with airtight lid to my LFS and demanded they fill it up with the water from their AMAZING display tank. They refused at first and wanted to know what I as going to do with it, when I reminded them that I programmed and setup the dosers for their SPS frag tank, and their amazing display, no more quesions were asked and they handed over a vial full of water. I tested the water which confirmed my Deltec Refractometer was spot on with what their Refractometer reported the LFS display water. This is to this day my calibration fluid. I only open the vial for a few seconds to take out a few drops and its shut tight again.
How are you managing lately mate, things under control i hope and your family all well. I might send Kevin over to give you a hand if i can find him, he got into the kalk again and went bush last night.
I'm feeling much better mate. Family all well. I'm going to resume my weekly water changes again. My water looks like its yellowed and I hate to see that. I hope all is good at your end.
Everyone relax, the guy over the street texted me just now.
Him ' Kevin is in my garage '
Me ' Are you sure it's Kevin ? '
Him ' What do you think '
Me ' Be right over '
Kevin was subdued with the kalk'd up koala tranquilizer (cricket bat) and thrown into his tree.
Do you have any kalk in the house Sahin.........
Biggles, Kevin looks SCARY! What sort of Kalk has he been snorting? He looks out of his mind! Dont worry about me mate, I have half a jar of Kalk power left...plenty to deal with any crazed out Koalas!
