SPS Dominated 47G Reef

SWEEETTT light, Sahin . What dimensions for the 93G? Cube?

Dip that bloody chimp before you put him in the display, reef monkeys are known carriers of AEFW.......... one part banana smoothie to 10 parts tank water is the usual dose......... :fun4:

I don't know what you're on biggles, but can I have some? :p

Very cool. I am also considering swap to ATI T5+LED 48 inch for my 2014 new tank. However, when I spoke to the Taiwan dealer, he mentioned ATI now use MIC (Made in China) controller and not as great as before. I actually don't care who made it, but quality have to good. For that, can you keep posting us your feedback/experience on ATI light. Many thanks.

I dont accept that all made in China products are bad quality. So many electronics products used everyday is made in China. Its not all going faulty.

I still have the original Apple Iphone. It was built in China (designed in USA). I bought this Iphone 4 in the first week it came out in the UK. Its the best phone I've had in terms of quality and reliability. Sure, VERY cheap China products are crap and unreliable. But what do you expect?

With equipment specified by ATI who is still one of the major players in the Reefkeerping world, I highly doubt the controller is so cheap that it will stop working anytime soon. Remember, the controller is such an important piece part of the light that for ATI to economise here and have lots of unhappy customers doesnt make good business sense.

Sure, this is a product I have bought and maybe I am biased, but I am trying to be impartial here. I will definitely let you know if I am not happy about the quality or if anything breaks down.

Bello, thanks.

I am looking to copy the dimensions of the 93G Marineland cube which is 30x30x24. I have seen quite a few beautiful Youtube Vids of this tank and they look quite nice.

Thanks. ATI T5 + LED light set is my first choose for my new tank (my DIY light system currently used is soooooo ugly), especial knowing "A Reef in the Sky" and you both use it.

I'm happy to say that the statement above is a rumor.
All genuine ATI products are made in their own facility in Germany.
Hope the chinese aren't making any fake ATI fixtures/controllers!!!

Grandis.

humm... that's also possible - "fake ATI product"!!!

Hey Sahin, quickest way is you help us check if your controller made in Germany or China, since yours must be real. Can you help?

Sahin the colors are just insane in your tank...whats your secret..
No secret LOL. Keep the parameters stable. Keep NO3 around 5ppm or less and PO4 0.03ppm or less. Feed tank well. Make sure your EXPORT is HIGH. Carry out at least 10% weekly water changes. Keep doing that for 6 months continuously and your corals MUST colour up.

The Controller has a sticker on it with a German address. Basically its the ATI manufacturing facility address.

I've sent an email off to ATI asking about this. Hope they reply back to me.

So how long has the new fixture been up and running over the tank sahin?

Only 3 days I think. I couldnt use the existing wall brackets as the LED Powermodule weighs a ton compared to the Sunpower. So I only managed to get it sorted out a few days ago.

Tell you what, I love the light. I did some quick PAR measurements today. I am averaging between 350-425 in most areas - PAR is VERY uniform over the tank. This was mid to bottom of tank. I didnt bother testing higher up as I am sure the PAR will reach 500-550 easily. The reason I cant give a fixed figure is that due to the LED's and water movement, the PAR jumps rather like with a Metal Halide fixture. Which I am very happy about; this is mimicking the sunlight in a way.

I've had a small issue with my tank though...the airline connecting to my Alk bottle came off...no idea when...most likely when I was messing with the wiring getting my Sunpower off etc changing sockets on my GHL Profilux socket box...

I tested Alk straight away... It was 4.8dKH on Salifert kit!!! :eek1: However, not one acro STN'd or RTN'd. Which I am both surprised and glad at the same time. I did test with both a Salifert Kit and a TMC Alk kit (tested 5).

I did notice lots of Mesenterial filaments on quite a few of my acros...these are released in times of stress or sometimes is a feeding response.

That was a lucky escape.

Very close call! I'm glad nothing catastrophic happened.

Yeah, that's just one more rumor about ATI. They are really professional and precise in what they do.
I did send an email to ATI in Germany before my last post here and they told me what I wrote. :D

Be happy and enjoy the new fixture!

Me too. I raised the Alk by 0.5dKH yesterday. Will raise it by same amount today as well, until I get to about 7.5dKH. Just took a quick look at some of my acros and they look fine.

Hey Grandis, many thanks for checking that out. Appreciate it. Like I said above, when I posted the photos, the fixture is solid, looks beautiful and the quality looks the best. I've owned many fixtures over the years, and this is easily the best built.

This is the current light schedule I am running. The T5's are running 100% with no dimming at the moment as I am have to run this way for the first 40-50 hours with new tubes. Once this is done, I will adjust the whole light schedule again and look forward to the T5's dimming up and down like the LED's.

Shih87: I just got an email response from ATI Germany. I got essentially the same message that Grandis got: Everything is an in-house production. Research & Dev, production of Micro-electronics (eg circuitboard, controllers, LED-Clusters) etc are carried out in Germany.

I am not worried about it at all. My GHL Profilux which is also made in the same way by GHL Germany, is an excellent product.

I say go ahead and purchase from a REPUTABLE dealer and you wont have any problems.

Hi Sahin and Gradis,

Many thanks for your follow-up and confirmation. Now I am very confident to buy ATI and thanks to you two;-)

Wow!!! I am not aware with ATI that I can dim T5 as well. Even without it yet, I love it already...

Cheers,

No problem. Glad to assist. I cant wait to dim the T5's! With T5 dimming, you can dim all units, except for the 80w tubes in the USA where they dont have good dimming ballasts for the 80w tubes (USA is 110v hence different ballasts).

I did the exact same thing one time and let my ALK mix run too low in the container and the tube was bent up and out of the liquid. If it slowly falls on its own, its not a big deal, its all about how fast you bring it back up. I tried too fast one time because I had to leave town and it killed a massive colony while I was gone. I have also overdosed ALK at 1.1ml per minute to where it climbed from 8dkh to 13dkh over 8-9 hours. I somehow turned on my ALK pump on my phone and didnt know it. I just turned it off and let it fall slowly on its own over 4 days and everything was fine. As long as it isnt a super fast spike, it usually isnt an issue.

I am also dealing with this right now in a sense because of me moving and selling off some massive birdsnest colonies my demand was much less than before so I have had some issues dialing in the 2 part dosing. It gets frustrating sometimes.

Thanks for the info. Quite reassuring. I've been having crazy thoughts that over the next few days I will start to get STN/RTN. Never had alk get so low before.

That is a very true statement.

Just pay more attention on your ALK up. My experience is with relative low KH in normal day (like you and my tank keep KH lower than 8), the KH down usually is ok, but if you raise KH too quick, then problem happen. Normally, I would suggest my friends raise KH less than 5% per day.

I sincerely wish your tanks pass the issue this time.
