I love them all but the tort is one of my favorites
Update regarding tank:
I worked on the tank a lot today. Over 5 hours actually. I just thought I hadn't given the tank enough care over the past few months and really wanted to give things a boost, especially after the recent Alk drops etc. :headwallblue:
So, today I got some filter floss, stuffed this inside a 7inch 200micron filter sock and then stuffed that inside a 7inch 100micron filter sock...:wildone:
Then I put the MP10's at 100% and started to baste the rocks like crazy every 10 minutes for like 2 hours...The amount of crap that came out the rocks was unbelievable.
...........................................................................................
I'm cleaning some GAC now, and I will place this in the sump tomorrow and leave in there for a few days to remove the remaining bit of yellowing from the water.
Oh and in between doing all this extensive tank maintenance, I was browsing on here.
Thanks mate. My Red Planet usually doesnt budge at all. However 3 severe Alk drops may be a bit too much, and it has browned a tiny bit. Still largely red/pink. I do have green in the lower branches and areas covered by polyps, but it gets close to 300 PAR (which is around the lowest PAR spot for my tank) during peak light cycle, hence most of the green isnt there.Awesome photo's and great colors on those acro's. Do you find the red planet changes color a lot? Mine seems to hold steady at a nice pinkish/red but I don't get the green base like some do. Anyway, volley number one has been fired, well done.
Sahin,
What PAR is your Acropora granulasa receiving?
I have this tiny frag in my tank:
Do you think it is an A. granulosa?
It is under around 200 mmol PAR (or perhaps a little less) at the moment, but if I placed it under higher PAR, it would get really pale.
Cheers
Thank you. To get a compliment from an SPS legend is pretty cool.If there weren't any polyps extension, I would say that you took your recent pictures out of the water. Sahin!!! Your water clarity, corals and pictures are amazing!!!
Thanks. I'm hoping that over the next 3 months I can really push this tank to the next level.Sahin, your coral color is very beautiful, good state, love your Pink Millepora![]()
Thanks. The granulosa sure is nice.man i go to get me some granulosa. nice pics and corals
Thanks man.I love them all but the tort is one of my favorites
Hey buddy, thanks for looking into my thread.Whoa nice!!!!
Great info sahin:thumbsup:
Doing the same thing at the rocks with a pump. Can't do much with the sandbed though
Have i told you lately that i hate you for thinking of going back to BB???
Those corals and pics are amazing!!!
Granulosa is already stunning!
First up is the Granulosa.

If you want more green and deeper red then the Red Planet needs less light. At high PAR you will lose most of the green and the growing tips will be more of a pink than red.Thank you for the response. I may try giving mine more light and see waht happens.
I got a similar maricultured one. It has yet to color up though
Bulent, that Granulosa gets around 470-500 PAR during the peak light cycle!!! :crazy1: For a year or so it got around 300 under my previous lights. I've had it for a year and half.
I got it from Clayton @ Reefworks. One of his longer term aquacultured stuff. When you visit me you will see the colours shown in the photo is almost identical to what it looks like in person. I'd say the photo I posted is 99% accurate. You are welcome to take a frag of this if you like. One part of it is around 1cm away from my Blue tort and I wont mind fragging it.
As for whether yours is a granulosa or not, I'd say it looks very close, but it is small and the photo of it is a little blown out, so hard to say. Where did you get yours from?
Yup, thats what the original frag looked like. Thanks Sahin. I already feel spoilt.
Your granulosa frag must have looked like this when you first purchased it from Clayton. What an amazing transformation!
The mother colony of my frag was a wild colony. A friend of mine purchased it from Cockfields and gave me this tiny frag. The original colony was of similar colour to the frag, i.e. brownish with cream colouration with green hue.
I am assuming that the mother colony must have been collected from deep waters because as I said whenever I placed it higher up it turned rather pale.
Mark could not confirm the identity of the colony at the time, hence my question. Sadly, the whole colony stripped in my friend's tank within a few days. Fortunately, I have got its biological backup in my tank.
Hi mate, there is an FTS posted a few pages back, as well as several top down showing all the corals. I also posted quite a few coral shots on this page and a couple of pages back I think.Hey Sahin buddy how often do you blast your rock work? And how about some full tank shots for us all ( aka eye candy) and some more close ups please

hahaha lol bello you were always going to say they would look better in your tank :lolspin:but i dont think sahin would agree:debi:.Thanks for the info Sahin, I'll borrow my friend's Salifert and see what the tank tests out at, should be interesting
Beautiful corals, but honestly, they'll look better in my tank, you should consider that. Really like the tort and the random green one (yes, I have a green fetish
).
Excellent work Sahin, you can now take a deserved break from pic posting.....after torturing us for sooo long![]()
I used to do this once a week at least, especially when I was fighting a PO4 battle. Having recently been unwell I hadnt obviously done this for months. But regularly doing this is good practice IMO.OK thanks mate I'll check out the fts and those coral pics you posted were amazing. Anyway how often do you blast your rock work to get rid of debris?
Sahin!!!
I've missed the last few pages.. I will go back..
BUT!! Crazy, CRAZY shots and corals!!
Awesome!!

Love this setup, you are doing awesome. Any issues atm?
Hi Sahin, what a beautiful collection of corals !!! Love them.
Your spending a lot of time in maintaining your tank lately showed your health is improving -- I am so happy to learn that.
Like you says, having this wonderful hobby can keep you away from some unhappy thoughts.
Please keep the pictures and advice coming.
