SPS dominated tank in Waikiki INTENSE PICS!!! BEWARE

I've lived in Hawaii for 22 years never really cared for Waikiki aquarium. Now that I moved to the mainland and went back home to visit I couldn't leave that place. I guess you never know how much you miss something till it's gone. That place is so beautiful.

My sister lives minutes from there and has never visited it. Crazy.... I keep telling her she has to go! I plan on visiting her in december and will check it out then. That is incredible! I remember a few years back someone stealing some of the clams from their outdoor clam tank.

Delbeek left behind a legacy there, hopefully he is doing great things in San Fran.

Whoa so Delbeek went to the Steinhart then?

Also fyi guys, the inside tanks are supplemented with 400W 20k's.

Thank you, I know what I'm gonna do with my life now, make enough money to set up and maintain a tank the size of the one in the video. Thats pretty much gonna do it. Good bye wife kids and nice home, I'm livin in a trailor taken half up by my tank!

Some of those still look similar to when I was there in 95, only larger corals.

After the 1st. week, which was for my daughters wedding, I went there everyday of the 2nd week. :D

I lived in Hawaii for 8 years, and man you bring back memories. Yeah the water is pumped in from the ocean and the clams seem to look much larger. Is there still a Mahi Mahi growing tank? I have not been back in 3 years, but my friends call me telling me to come and visit. Did you go to Maui they have a larger aquarium there. As for the aquarium in downtown Honolulu it is way small, but the displays are nice for the size. Great pics and thanks for showing them. My wife also liked the learning pool with the starfish, cukes and hermit crabs.

real nice. i wonder how they deal with rain. wouldnt that affect the water quality and also the evaporation.

i was thinking of making an outdoor frag tank but i havent read anything about anyone having one and the cost.

We just had Delbeek speak at our last club meeting.

He is a very nice guy!!

The new Steinhart is going to be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man I went to the Maui Ocean center and I thought that was a pretty cool place (maybe one of these days I'll post the pictures, however not being strictly SPS or fish, etc there's no one place they all fit). But man that place is stunning.

And yes we snatched up Delbeek, neaner neaner, of course I dunno... working in one of the largest aquariums in the world... leaving paradise... kind of a hard decision to make there, don't know if I would have went that route unless they offered me a ton of money. (San Francisco ain't much cheaper to live than Waikiki)

I was just there last week, spent a few hours at the aquarium and loved every minute of it. I tried to talk them out of a few of those sps frags ( more the size of colonies) but it was a definate No. LOL.
I try to visit the aquarium every time I'm over there working, it helps ease the pain of not haveing my tank with me. LOL
