Are the corals in this tank native to Hawaii? I was under the impression that there wasn't many native acro species there?

The first few pictures had me really excited as I thought this was a private individual's tank. My heart sank when I realized this was a public aquarium.

Don't get me wrong. It is an amazing what they have there, but reef tanks are a no-no in HI and we are planning to move there. I am heartbroken I can't keep a reeftank there. The diving is amazing but the native corals just don't get me excited enough.

That Yellow Tang is HUGE!

I was there last June. I really liked the big lagoon opposite the SPS tank as well. Lots of huge tangs, triggers and butterflies.

I enjoy this one as well as the Maui Ocean Center.

The one on Maui is almost all endemic Hawaii critters. Waikiki has stuff from all over...

That's pretty amazing. Imagine using the sun as a light source and the ocean as a sump!
