SPS dramatic color change

My pink birdnest changed the color completely. I kept the pink color for more than 2 years, but the color was totally changed to green.

I have the same coral and it was never pink. Looks just like your "after" picture. Just out of curiosity, did you change bulbs if you use bulbs as lighting or increase the intensity of the lighting if you use LED's?

I have the same, but mine started green and turned pink...

I think it's a reaction to UV. The tank I got it from has very soft LED lit - bright, but not intense. Not sure if that makes sense.

My tank is MH heavy with extra UV - both with a double ended MH 400W and additional UV LEDs (300W).

Basically, I think it's "tanning".

I think mine is the same coral. Perhaps not. But I keep mine under LEDs no UV and it has always been green.

Sorry I just saw that yours started green and turned pink. So mine backs that up. I bought the original drag from an led lit tank. I have to admit I like the pink better.

Looks like the site is blocked? I found this one that matches the link end

I added spaces to make it go just in case.

Huh. So blocked by reef central? That's funny. It just basically details how each coral color is dependent on just one particular element and that you should dose your tank by looking at the coral colors. Sort of a recipe for disaster.

It seems like it's pushing 'color supplements' as the answer and I'm not convinced. I think it's light mostly and then the availability of nutrients to color up.

Have there been any studies?

I don't supplement K or I. I do feed coral food like reef chilli, etc...

No studies that I have heard of. There have been scientific explanations of what colors are caused by certain pigments/fluorescent compounds in coral magazine. It was from a while back but I have it somewhere here. It says nothing about dosing K for reds I know that.

IME, High placement under halide lighting brings out the pink.
