SPS frag placement / spacing

I am looking to place about 30-35 SPS frags of all sorts into a 250g tank.
I will also add some LPS & zoo's, but not these usually are places & easily moved.

Question is for the SPS mostly as I plant to "fix" or epoxy many in place. Is that what most do? If not they encrust anyway and become somewhat permanent....right?

So about how much room should I leave between the frags for now? Then will I need ot frag as they grow close to one another or will they co exist? Should I keep certain species away form eachother?

Which would you say to keep mid level or a bit under that in a 24" tall tank under 250w MH's & T-5 supplement

depending on the size and your rock scape! and what sps you have! Give them room! you have plenty of room for 35 pieces

Agreed with chef. When I started my 75 I started with ~30 SPS frags so you will prolly want ~75 really!

I have a fairly open scape. ~ 150# dry rock. I added the frags & it seems like I am almost out of room considering growth! Yet it is still very baren! lol

I have a 66 x 36 footprint to work with.

so does like 4-5" from all sides of eachother sound about right?

I'll say about 4"-5" apart is a good start. The best is to visualize what each coral would look like and how it would interact with the adjacent corals. After that, is to visualize the whole tank when all the coral grow out (harder to do).

Or...you can do what V1...Rotate did. He took pictures of each coral and place them to see what it may look like.

What I've been doing is. Glue the frag to a piece of rubble. Then epoxy the rubble to my rock. If I need to move the colony when it is grown out. I just pop it off and re-epoxy it. I'm sure there comes a time when you run out of room but I have not reached that point.

Don't know your lighting but also ensure you acclimate and start the frags at the bottom and then move up slowly. Include the following when placing:

- Flow requirements
- Lighting requirements
- Color variation
- growth pattern of the coral when matured
- stinging between the corals (Will they kill one another?)

My wife keeps telling me I'm out of room but I just keep adding frags from time to time I consider it my grow out tank so I can get the corals growing out for a future tank build similar to the size of your current tank (I'm really jealous).
