SPS frags at Petco

In my area I have one independant pet store that does a pretty good job of keeping the animals in their best shape, but every now and then the supplier send some poor quality stuff that they have to take in a pinch, but have the knowledge to nurse it to health. I have 2 chain stores that bring in ok quality and some rarities, but cannot care for any of it. They order it in the hopes it sells or mark it down after it's half dead and brown or bleached. I drive over an hour to get to 5 other independant fish stores before I shop at a chain place.

While Live Aquaria is in fact a quality store, they do not QT their fish as one would like to believe.

The Divers Den branch of Live Aquaria is a whole different facility, and does in fact QT everything, but the consumer pays a hefty price for their livestock - then a hefty amount for shipping.

I went to petco once to get some mysis and they had a koran angel on his last leg. I said I''d give him five bucks for it, and they declined. They said that if I wanted it it would cost me the full 80. I didn't really want it in particular it was just a nice fish and I wanted to try to bring it back. I told them that it is going to die in there and why not make some profit over none and he still said either pay the full price or it dies.

I'll bet they can write it off as a $80 loss and come out better than taking $5 for it.

Yeah, i see all sorts of dead fish or dying fish in my petco. My petco sells sps, like ORA red planet, ORA strawberry shortcake, and others but for a hefty price. They actually look decent under T5's, but the fish no way.
