SPS From Divers Den? - Help with order

Alright I am a bit confused. So I see 3x different types of SPS in divers den. I see the "SPS Corals" then I see "maricultured coral" and "Aquacultred Coral"

So heres my question what are the "SPS Corals"?

I know what Aquacultred are they are and I know they are much more hardy then others. I know I always have a hard time with Maricultured they are always hit or miss. I normally lose 1 out of 2 after 3 months of it being in the tank. Not sure why not really looking to get into that as of now. My question is are the "SPS corals" just wild colonies? are they just like a maricultured only not grown in a ocean coral farm? If I stuggle with Mariculture am I going to have the same stuggle with "Sps Corals"

I am looking at some FIJI and some Aussie colonies that are in the 4-5" range

SPS in their vernacular is wild caught. Unless you can match your conditions to the ones in the wild, they often do not do well. Maricultured are cultured in the sea with again the condition matching issues. Aquacultured are aquarium cultured and are relatively the easiest. (Note I did not say easy)

Well there is really no possible way for me to know the condition they came from correct? So how do people keep wild caught corals doing well?

Ah, the million dollar question, and the majority have theirs brown out not to return in color for sometime. Aquacultured is key and DD has plenty. Battlecorals is one of my top go-to's for the best in aquacultured goodness!

wild corals are the most difficult to acclimate to aquarium life. Often come starved and bleached. They do not generally have a base and are also difficult to mount. If your tank conditions are spot on they will live. I have 20+ wild corals all doing well. I also have a 500 gallon system so stability is much easier. It also varies by species some are much easier in maricultured and wild. Maricultured are just easier. Also most wild corals are not as colorful as the generally available frags.

Do your self a favor, buy a red planet frag, pink lemonade frag and watch them grow.

These are all wild colonies . . .

They are doing well . . .

Of course they are in the hands of one of the world's best SPS keepers, Krzystof Tryc.

some wild some aquaculture some, you can get look of that Krzystof Tryc gets with the use of zeospur. I have used it in the past but it is hard on the coral, in my opinion.

My more natural look of acros with phosphate .01-.02, nitrate 1ppm

I've always been of the mind frame that all coral came from the "wild" at one point. It's true that Aquaculture have proven to hold color in captivity, but for any number of reasons a coral can brown out or bleach (ie: temp/Alk spike, poor shipping conditions). If you provide ideal conditions your SPS can flourish no matter what the source. If you do a search you'll find even more debate between Wild, Mariculture, and Aquaculture pertaining to pests and hitchhikers... Personally I prefer Wild acros because of the opportunity of obtaining something truly unique.

trying to get my hands on a red planet. I have a nice pink lemonaid that is doing very well.

if you want some big acros quick I would recommend the following for heartiness:
ACRO SECALE really nice deep purple coral.

ACRO TENUIS comes in a lot of colors.

ACRO ASPERA green with blue tips (GETS BIG QUICK, LARGE STAG, IF YOUR TANK CAN USE A LARGE CORAL)
ACRO MILLE easy grower, fast grower.
