SPS growing in to the glass.

What does everybody do about there SPS growing in to the glass? For some reason, no matter where I move my colonies they end up growing in to the glass. I love the growth I get, but it is annoying always having to frag the new growth I get. I know there are most who would love to have this problem lol

I also can't seem to sell any of the frags in my area and don't feel comfortable shipping some of them because they are so fragile. I have never shipped SPS before. Because of this issue, I end up with a bunch of frags that grow great and no room for them.

I have tried changing placement of my power heads an moving the coral. Nothing seems to work for me so far. They just want to grow outwards instead of towards the surface. Figured I would get a fresh perspective from others and maybe something will work for me.

How big is your tank ? You could ship the frags to me lol or could just throw the frags away . I kinda want to see a pic you got a build thread.? I personally love sps tanks that are like jungles and overly grown

It's a 72g mixed reef, nothing special and I do keep it trimmed up. Just have the issue of them tending to grow sideways instead of up. I will snap a new picture of my tank and post it up tomorrow. My colonies aren't huge, but a few never will be if I have to keep cutting them up.

If no one will buy them locally, lower the price until they will; see if a LFS will take them in trade; start a local club if you don't have one; post on local forums and see if you can organize a frag swap; find some newbie reefers and PIF with free frags. Failing all of that, just toss them, as much as it might pain you to!

Kind of an out of the box suggestion, but what if you try selling or trading the entire colony of the coral(s) that are growing into the glass in exchange for new frags of corals that you don't have.
Keep a piece instead of a colony. And use the opportunity to rotate out new things that you're otherwise limited to keeping due to tank size.

Raise your light up so they reach for more light... It also all depends on the type of sps your talking about. Typically stags grow up, tables grow out....
