sps growing on clam

I've got what seems like an elephant coral growing on the shell of my 8" maxima. Is there anything I should do? I know this coral is an encrusting type, will it eventually harm the clam. The coral started very small and has grown to about the size of a quarter over the last couple of months. Any ideas?

I wouldn't think it would be that much of a problem. I've got a few little chucks of poccillipora groing on a maxima myself. As of right now they arn't bothering it.

I also had a m. digitata cap encrusting over a clam. It was limiting the amount the clam could open and close. It decided it didn't like that and fragged part of the cap itself.

what ever grows on the side of the shells is ok as long as they are not penetrating the shells is fine.

I've heard of GSPs killing a clam, but never a coral like that. Just keep your eye on it, and it should be fine :)

Here's a lot of zoos growing on a clam. :)
