sps growth pics on specifically evergrow leds

I know there are other threads out there for growth of sps under led. I am looking for pics with specifically led units made by evergrow. ie reef breeders, reef supply canada or direct from them.

thanks

I've only had mine for about two months and have yet to get a decent pic since switching over to LEDs but my growth has definately not been any less than what it was with a 250 halide. The color has improved and there is a definate improvement in corraline. I very much like my reefbreeders and will get more in the future.

anyone else.. i am losing color on my recently purchased frags.. but not sure if lights or change in water from tank to tank. so looking to see others pics.. i picked up a green with purple rim monit.. but now it is pale green with no purple rim.. the leds are at 10% on both channels.

Are you expecting the corals to maintain its color when the LEDs are running at 10%? Seriously?

no.. but here is the thing... if you are to strong they bleach.. so if they are week and not getting light.. i would have expected them to be getting brown. all the threads here talk about starting out low and going high.. i have had mh t5 vho all in the past.. nothing like this happened.. when the light was week the corals browned.. they did not fade out..

kicking it up..

You are dealing with a totally different paradigm now. It will be easier if you don't try and compare experiences from your MH/T5 days since the two don't mix. I don't have any experience on these specific lights, but wanted to offer this, for what it is worth....

IMO, there is something else at play here that people don't really understand yet - there is no way that LED are producing too much good light - you can put SPS under multiple MH and the Sun 1" under the water at 800-1100 par and they thrive. Your observation that the corals act differently under "too much" or "too little" light is what most of us have made (fading & looking blah vs browning) and the variable don't add up to the same thing, which is indeed not actually "too much" IMO. My guess is that there is some sort of bad radiation that the coral needs to be slowly exposed to, but I am just a loser on a message board who is only good at supposing.

Also, don't throw your MH out yet - I know about 25 guys who are hardcore into SPS who have systems like yours (high end) and all of them are on MH or ATI and most have had a run with LED of some sort only to abandon them for now waiting for more advances.

Anyway, you won't find too many parallels between LED and what you had before... sorry for the ramblings.

thanks for the thoughts... yes.. i still have all of my MH fixtures.. 8 of them.. ouuch..

switched to leds because ... get this chiller crashed.. two MH ballasts crashed and all 4 400 wattt MH bulbs needed to be replaced.. same time..

thanks

Posts 31 & 32 are my before and after growth pics. If they are bleaching you need to get a PAR meter and use that. 10% doesn't really mean anything if you didn't know what your PAR was before you started. I was blasting mine with too much light and didn't know it (except that a lot of them were very white or browning out). Now I run mine on 25%W/50%B. Mine are just the standard cheap Evergrow D120s.
