sps growth under t5's

It is something I wish we could get away from! I shudder to think of the cash that I have dumped into my glass box and basement sump. Between the tank and the camera stuff, my wife has a LOT to question, but I am very lucky I guess!

The bad part is the tank is NEVER done.... Even though my tank is going well right now, I want to change things. Change = MORE MONEY!

I get away with it by buying lower wattage stuff, to "save money" honey! ;)

I thought I should post this here too, I posted it in the lighting/equipment forum.

Here are some readings I just took off a 12x54 fixture on a 48x30x20 tank. The par values may seem a bit deceiving because most of the higher coral are towards the back of the tank. The par values towards the back of the tank are less than the middle of the tank. About 4-5" down dead center in the tank the par level is about 450. I think the par is fairly decent. Good spread and I am getting up to 275 par at the bottom of my tank.

PS. my tank really isn't unlevel like that, I have a wave going.

Beautiful tank. do you find the ends of the tank are dim with 60inch bulbs on a 72 tank?

ianiwane,
thanks for taking the time to post that here too. great info.

cathoai,
great looking tank, what color bulb scheme are you using, really nice color.

Iwan...I keep seeing pictures of your system(s) pop up here and there, and am never short of amazed. I love the simple, elegant aquascaping, and the colors are nothing less that awesome.

yes, I built the reef new some weeks ago. I also switched back from Zeovit to DSB...back to the roots :-)

I recently switched over from MH's to T5's and have had nothing but great color and growth. :D

I run a 7x54W Aquatinic Constellation over my 100gl Rimless(48x24x20) and it does a great job. I run a combo of 3 Ati Blue+ and 4 Ati Aquablue Special. I will probably be replacing one of the Aquablues with a Blue+ soon.

Iwan, you have such an amazing way with corals and an eye for beautiful aquascape as well

When are you going to translate your webpage for those of us who can't read Schriftdeutsch??

:)

Sonny, I'd love to see your TOTM get better than it already is, I'm curious why you choose blue bulbs with no day or actinic. Still being a beginner with no deep opinion I can say I see more pople switch from MH to T5 on RC which really sells me on T5's.
