SPS ID and help

I bought this small colony from a fellow reefer. I am not sure what type it is (ID please). Also,it has started loosing tissue from the ends (see pic). He said that it was not getting enough flow. I have it placed in the top of my tank with a lot of flow but can't tell if its getting worse. What should my next couse of action be?

Here are my Tank # but this started in another tank. Just would like some advise on what I should do? IE- trim off the ends if they are dead or will they come back? Also the type of sps? I could not find one like it on any other sites. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks

It's a deepwater species, so i would keep it out of direct light. There are a lot of things that can cause the RTN. If it is new to the tank then it is not acclimating well to the water and/or placement. Deepwater acros can be week to high temps, unstable parameters (usually your alk swings), and a small colony like that can be difficult to simulate its previous water flow.

I would frag all the living pieces you can and place them in different locations around the tank. Make sure the tank stays cool and the alk stays stable.

Update- I move the colony down to the bottom of the tank in a medium flow and it is doing well. It changed from the purple color to a neon green. It stopped loosing tissue and has started to grow new. I even fraged some of it. Still do not know what it is, so if anyone has any ideas please let me know. It kind of has the same tissue as the red setosa and it looks a lot brigher in person. Thank You all for the advice.

cool! In your opinion what is the best position and flow for it?

I will sadly admit Montipora setosa is one that i have never had the best success with. I have only tried it in small tanks, so I think the alk swings were the main issue. But I have never personally kept it long enough to find it's perfect spot for flow.

I have observed it in others tanks and seen that the flow can vary. Stronger flow will make it branch and grow thick plates, lighter flow and it will grow thin and encrust outward.
