Reefcrest 100%. One mp40 on a 120G. Tunze on other end.

Ive have mp40 for over three years. Had to replace magnet once. Tunze for 1 year, and randomely runs reverse on its own. Ive replaced multiple shafts, outer cone etc.. still randomly switches to reverse on its own.

I cant wait to be able to afford a second mp40

GIG I recommend random mode as many of my friend including pciscott usr random mode in the ocean corals have more of a random flow right, corals seem to like more of random flow as not just a few corals will get all the flow everything in your tank would get a great flow.

As a feat of engineering and construction however, it's pretty damn poor...
Everyone that I know in the hobby that runs Vortechs has excellent results.
From mp-10's to the mp-40's I can't think problem that I have personally encountered (I'm talking about a dozen different powerheads). Are they going to be flawless? Of course not. But as an engineering feat, I struggle to think of a powerhead that comes close.

Maybe they just don't work right down unda. ;)

I have a 185 DD tank. I am running a mp60&mp40, both on long pulse. Also owned 3 mp10's for around 3years, have a old metal box mp40 a friend is using, and all of them have ran just the way they were made to run, AWSOME!!

Ive had my MP 40 for 2 years now and its a solid pump It adds that je ne sais quois that my hammerhead CL cant provide. I switch between lagoon reefcrest and short pulse. Less short pulse, it tends to make me go in the fetal position in a corner covering my ears.

Ive had to replace the wetside 5 times. Now that may seem like alot, heck it is but the pump is not at fault here. I had the little white washer on the wrong side and that melts the bearings and when my trochus reproduced the little buggers kept sneeking in to the damn thing and jamming the propeller. I had to mod the wetside opening, I took an old wetside cage and cut the front off then glued it to the front of the good housing, porblem solved.

2mp60s and 1 mp10 on back glass for my 72x24x29... I run them low low low and still can't keep sand on the bed! I run Tidal Swell Mode because it's just a modified Reef Crest that makes the pumps work together to get more directed shifts in the patterns.

(Lagoon mode actually shifts more chaoticly than reef crest). It's like they accidently swapped the descriptions of lagoon and reef crest
