Sps lighting

Hey guys, I have a biocube hqi and am receiving my first few sps frags this week. I have plenty of lps with success but I am concerned about my light for sps. I know I have plenty of light but I'm concerned that I don't have any actinics. Will I be able to keep nice coloring without any actinics? I think my bulb is a 10k if that helps.

Bulb color by itself is not what determines the color of sps, you can have brown corals and 20k bulbs. A combination of par, nutrient levels and available food is the determining factor in the color of sps, as well as the color of the sps itself. Is this a 150 watt setup?

Actinics have nothing to do with Browning out. It's your parameters and stability that you need to be worried about.

Ok thanks a lot guys. I hate my lfs but they are the only ones close. I got a few free sps frags today and they seem ok, they have polyp extension and I have them in the bottom of the tank. The only thing is that one seems to have a few white spots... Is this RTN?

Ok well obviously my lights are off so I'll put some pics up tomorrow. I wasn't really expecting to get these today but this guy just gave them to me.

This is the best picture I can get, it hasn't spread since Monday so I'm not sure what it is. Any idea?

It looks more like it is being snacked on, which could be many things doing it. Did you dip it before putting it in the tank?

I didn't dip it mainly because I got it from a reliable source and because it was unexpected and is my first sps. As I said it hasn't spread since its been in my tank. I'm not sure if it was like this when I got it, as it was essentially a present

its always good to dip, does not matter where you get it from as the other person sometimes does not know they have any pests. Keep an eye on it.
