sps problem

Since i switched from my 55 to my 125 i have lost most of my sps i did switch lighting. From t5 to leds but its been three or four months now and still the same thing im at a loss at this time any ideas will be nice on what to try or test for...

what are your water parameters?

what leds did you switch to?

yeah, knowing your water param/fluctuation is important, but also, it's tough as is for the SPS to go through a transfer- it's not uncommon for them to brown up for a while after esp. if you are talking about more than doubling your size, and if the added water might not have been mature enough for the sps.. the list could go on as to what might have happened, but on top of all that in a bundle, you also switched lighting. That's quite the shock for 'em sticks.

My calcium is at 500 my alkalinity is 11.0 to 11.2 ph is 8.2 everything else is zero .
i have a mp40 on one side and i think a1050 power head on the other. im running 3 kessil ocean blue 150s and three stunner pros blue and white mixed.

IMO, you need alot more flow than that for SPS. Are those the same powerheads you were using in the 55?

Lack of flow, coupled with the change in lighting, may have been too much change.

Evolved raises a good point about flow. Again, just my opinion here, but the flow needs to be stronger and more random. A 55 is usually 4 ft and I would guess your 125 to be at least that. Even if your mp40 can push the length of the tank the other power head probably cannot offset it very well. I would suspect you have a singular flow stream. When you put food in does it all go in the same direction or does it flow in all different directions?
All the other points about light and water 'readiness' are spot on as well but as far as what is easy and relatively quick I would focus on seeing what can be done about the water movement...
And don't give up. Sps are just really finicky and any moving of them in general can be viewed as a gamble..
Good luck.

It might be a combination of moving it, then stressing it out further with changing of lights and lack of flow.

what's your water parameter looking like?

Im looking in to get a mp10 or another mp40 right now. my buddy is thinking the three kessil 150s and 3 stunner pros aren't enough light what are your thoughts on the lighting.

I'd say get a par meter and see what your par is @ certain depth.

Is your Kessil the 10k / 15k / or 20k?

Reef Culture rent the Par meter out for like 10-20$ a day I think. Do you have any pictures of your SPS / tank?

What equipment do you have? Skimmer? Calcium reactor?

Its not letting me upload the pic idk why i can't remember the name of the simmer i know aquarium arts use the same ones on there reef system no reactors .

Here is the tank

They just lose there color and then it looks like there skin falls off. im going to buy another kessil to make it four on there

LED's are deceptively powerful, many people experience STN after switching to LED's because they appear dim to the eye comparatively so the tendency is to turn them up or add more light. If possible dim them or raise them higher. Par metering would be helpful however you must ADD around 15% to what the meter says due to inaccuracies measuring LED par values.

I agree with post above regarding flow, probably not enough

Flow would not make your SPS bleach. I think lack or nutrients in the water along with LEDs are causing your problems.
