SPS Problems With High Alk - Why?

Running alk above 10 is dicey, IME. Leaves very little room for error.
We've been keeping our alk near 8.5 these days and liking the results. Definitely not a ULN system though - we have a lot of fish and feed them well!

If nutrients are higher 10+ doesn't seem to stress inhabitants IME. There was a time when people maintained up to 18 dKH. Certainly not suggesting it, but 11-12 shouldn't be an issue in systems with a little higher nutrients.
