Sps question

So I have the easier sps pocilopora, stylopora, montipora, birdsnest. I am wanting to try a acropora tenuis are they much harder or do you need a more established tank. Are there other sps I should try before getting into the acros. I am quite sure lights or flow is now problem at all and I have been over 30% water changes every two weeks maybe a bit much but I figure more is better p

If the others are doing well, I'd give it a go. I wouldn't start with one of the crazy expensive ones though. Plenty of green/blue tenuis options available that will let you know if your tank is ready.

Tenuis are finicky and I've had entire colonies die for no reason. My advice would be to buy a well established aquaculture piece over a mariculture as they are less stable. Unfortunately the well established aquaculture tenuis are some of the most expensive in the trade.

This is some good advice here and I'd say it applies to most acro species. I've had numerous wild and maricultured pieces loose color or start to die after months for no real reason.

I'd wait a month or two and watch your current sps grow and encrust. Then try some more difficult. You can waste a lot of money fast. If your water change is off the tougher to keep sps will just stn from a swing.

That being said I'd throw one in there.

The main reason I ask is because I was looking at saltyundergrounds page and looking in my tank I have so many green corals. Hammer, frogspawn, torch, Hollywood stunner, Duncan, blasto has green etc. I am already enjoying the sps the most and can get some blues, purples pinks with the acros but have always believed acros are some of the more didficult corals.. I am also wanting to get another vortech not sure which one don't need another 40 but it seems like most of the different modes need two so I think I am only using half of its potential.

I don't buy green coral because it is by far and away the most common color in our tanks. There are many different colors of lps too.

Time is your biggest factor on your tank being mature enough. You seem to be rushing to a tank crash. Patience is the best thing in this hobby

Millis IMHO are much more durable than Tenuis

I am not buying any coral for a couple weeks just trying to figure out for next time

Well in a couple weeks let me know if you're going to buy some corals from WWC or Jason Fox, not for me, but my cousin has an established tank and is looking for some high end frags. My tank is as young as yours so obviously I won't be ready for several months or longer.

I bought a couple sps pieces from salty U and they were really nice. They always seem to be larger than what they state on the website. Every frag I have purchased from them is alive and thriving.

I have always had good luck with Salty Underground. Lisa has always given healthy corals.
