SPS Reef video

I recently figured out how to piece video clips together using Microsoft Movie Maker. So here is a quick look (4.5 mb, 1.5 minutes) of my sps tank. You'll need Microsoft Media Player to playback the video.

You may not want to d/l this if you are using dial-up because the file size is 4.5 mb. I could edit the video clip to make it shorter. Unfortunately, I'm using a Canon camera because it takes video in avi format. Unlike my Nikon which takes video in quicktime format, and I haven't found a freeware that converts quicktime movie to avi yet. Mark Levenson built a camera box for my Nikon, otherwise the video would come out nicer under water. You'll see that the top view reflects glare from the MH light - therefore the color to sps is lost.

This is fun. I hope you enjoy it too. This way I can look back what my tank looks like - if it should crash one day due to power outage or whatever. It's been a month or so since going BB and I still like the clean look.

Very cool

Can you get a polarized lens for that? Would make it super.

Hey, what is the name of that killer sps store that is supposed to be around Irving area? Someone was saying the other day they had "several 500g tanks set up, one all sps"? Is this for real?!!!

You are referring to Saltwater Paradise in Irving, Texas. They have nice tanks - one has all sps, and one has mostly LPS. They get shipment of nice sps. When I had room in my tank, that's where I bought the sps colonies. Now I only have room for sps frags.

very nice perterlin98,

I like the little group of clams you have tucked away in the corner..

Thanks all. Clams got me started first with this tank 2 years ago. I figured that since I have MH, I might as well try sps so my tank does not look like a clam farm. I had as many as 40 clams in this tank at one point, but gradually my interest shift from clam to SPS. So now the remaining clams were rejected to the corner - and center (best spot) in the tank now reserves for sps. I actually had a big T. gigas which now lives in my 211. I recently sold a big Deresa - and that opens the room to move the T. gigas to.

You can see a video that has T. gigas in it in this video with Tunze wavebox. Eventually this tank will be stock with more sps, as it has the best flow of the 2. However, it has dimmer light (Coralvue 10K).

This tank is 5 feet x 3 feet x 15 inch.

I currently have 3 Tunze Stream 6100 on Multicontroller. For return, I'm using 2 pumps (both are Mag 12).

Beautiful!

Very Japanese! I love it!

Especially the rimless tank and the low, minimalist rockwork.

Where did you get the tank from?
