SPS Solana

Will you please allow me to fly you and a travel companion of your choice to New York City, so that you can set up that exact tank in my apt..thankyou.:p

Thanks everyone!

You can definitely drill the acrylic tops, just go slow and be extra careful. You should not have to worry about a check valve as long as the output point of the tubing is not submerged under the water line.

I got the my "bottom cover" (dont know what to call it) from www.usplastics.com, I bought white 1/4" HDPE and cut it to the appropriate size.

Anyway, I decided I wanted some more fish, so I bought a little 3 gallon pico to act as a small and very manageable quarantine tank. I purchased a beautiful Royal Gramma and a Six Line Wrasse with a great personality. Im going to start hypo this week, so they should be transferred to my main tank in about a month. I cant wait to add them!

Also the LFS I went to had live brine shrimp! I bought some and am keeping them in a small container with a small air pump bubbling the water. I feed my fish twice a day some of these guys and they love it! I've had them for 2 days now, and I figure they'll last a couple of more days.

Thanks everyone!

Also here's a quick update...

I have been having problems with my Tunze 9002 protein skimmer. It wouldn't always restart and the skimming was just inconsistent. So, after much consideration, I decided to purchase the sapphire aquatics protein skimmer.

It has been great so far and I have had it for about a week. It just as quite at the Tunze and it has been skimming well. The skimmate is a little wet, but it is consistent day to day. I may as a small spacer beneath the skimmer to raise it 1/4' further out of the water. However, I'm going to give it a week or so to break in.

Here's a couple of pictures...

Also, I have began dosing Reef Nutrition's Oyster Feast in addition to DT's Phytoplankton and have definitely seen an improvement in the overall color and growth in my SPS corals over the last 4 weeks.

Here's a few updated tank pictures as...

Oh, sorry, also is the color in your newer pictures pretty true to the actual color??? I just got all my equipment in and I move next week so I'll be setting it up then, but I have the 250 watt sunpod and ordered a 20k xm bulb instead, but I really like the look of your color in your tank.

Congrats on the new tank setup!

I have about 18 lbs of LR in the tank and an additional 2 lbs of rubble in the second chamber.

As far as the tanks color, I would honesty say that pictures are close to the actual tank color. In person the it is slightly more blue, but only very slightly.

I am using a 250W Ushio 20k bulb in my Sunpod, and to be honest, I would prefer the tank to be a little more blue in appearance. I hope this helps, thanks!

Thanks. I guess I'll go ahead and try the 20k XM and see how I like it. I had a 15k 150 watt XM on my last tank with actinic supplements and liked the color and everything was growing like weeds, so we will see...
