SPS starting to bleach

Recent additions turning white. I've added about 8 different SPS corals all in about a month timespan all placed at different levels. A few are beginning to turn white. My parameters are spot on. I have a 25 gallon nano with 150w 10000k metal halides, Remora C skimmer, a small aqua c power filter that I use as a small refugium that has cheato and red mangroves. The only thing I can think of is that I have been moving some of the corals around to find the best placement. Not sure if this will cause the bleaching or if its just natural because of the new environment. All came from tanks with metal halides, however the lights were bluer (12000k+). Not all SPS are bleaching, just a few.

How are you testing your parameters? Maybe by adding them so quickly it is taking up more Ca and Alk then you are currently dosing. You may have to up the dose in order to compensate. Of course test before you do this, and test at the same time every night to see what kind of a swing your getting.

stop with the sps' until you get more experience. and stop moving the ones you have. they also need to be acclimated to the light (asuming you acclimated them to the water). espesialy if they came from a tank with a different spectrum

your are jumping into this hobby to fast and if you don't slow down you will fail

would be a good idea to list your perameters so people can beter help you.

How long has the tank been running? I wonder if that's enough water movement for sps? Don't think the bleaching is from that though. Might just be adjusting to the different light and locations, but I would double chck those params.

Have enough flow, about 800gph from 4 different powerheads/pumps. I just realized that the frags that are bleaching are ones that have been recently fragged, the other frags that are new to my tank havn't been recently fragged and have healed from the initial fragging. Maybe this is the reason some and not all the frags are bleaching.

post actual test results for your water - and some history (go back a few tests).

SPS not only like "good" parameters, they like consistent ones.

Also post pics of the corals. If only a small portion of the "tip" is turning white - it might just be growth buds.

I agree with BW though- go slow with adding anything to a new tank. Eight SPS at once is a LOT to add to a 25 gal tank no matter what the size. Smaller frags are much "weaker" and will not adapt to changes as well. If you are adding that many - you should then be testing more often for alk, calcium, and PH to ensure consistency.

Ok, I just saw the size of the tank. I have a 54 gal with almost 4000gph and I'm increasing it in a couple weeks.

You do also need to post your parameters though. Without that no one can give you much help.

Regardless of the cause I would move the frags to the bottom and possibly raise your halide further up. You have a new light the frags came from an unknown length of time bulb. Pics and params would help and definately slow down
