Sps & T5 Lighting

I'm currently running metal halides on my sps tank but I'm having a lot of trouble with that fixture.
Would a 8 x 54 watt, 48" long T-5 TEK fixture be suitable for SPS?

with out a doubt. as long as they have individual reflectors, which the tek use, and are HO, like tek is, you should have no issues with sps. there are other great fixtures as well, such as the aquatinics solar flare, and constelation fixtures. the nice thing about these fixtures is they use active cooling, bulit in fans, to help with the performance of the bulbs. what size tank are you putting it on?

I agree with tpenn 187. I have a few of the "easy" sps in my 55 gal. I 4 54w ho t5 and their growth and colors are fantastic. I plan on getting a setup like yours so I can do more sps.

Be careful on your 75!!!! What are your dimensions??

I, too, have a 75 and I found that the 8x54 was too wide for my tank. I settled for the 6x54. Be sure you check the dimensions.

Still though... the 6x54 should be more than adequate.

Putting an 8 bulb tek on a 75 and you will be lighting up the street outside.

My 4 bulb tek on my 55 makes my living room window glow from outside.
