Thanks for sharing! I'll fire off some questions too.

I'm curious what media and pH you run in your calcium reactor? And you are only testing for cal, alk, mag, and iodine?? Can I ask for more details as to what you test your iodine/iodide/iodate (I read your link ;)) with and dose in regards to the iodine levels???

I saw this thread months ago and meant to compliment your aquascaping. Seems like a "less is more" rockscape.

Thanks for all the kind words people, much appreciated

Do you recall whether that baby blue stag is wild or maricultured?

It's maricultered, from the well known French consolidated shipper.

It's carbonate media, not reef bones. I have no idea what the ph is inside the reactor as I don't use a ph probe.

I only test for Alk, Ca and Mag, not iodine/iodate/iodide.

I don't test iodine, I did years ago but I found that about 0.75ml once p/month into 1000litres was a safe underdose for my system and that is what I do to this day, 0.75ml of lugols once a month if I remember, some times less often. But remember iodine can kill livestock so we should all test before and after dosing and you're far better off to underdose or not dose at all, rather than over dose.

Thanks for your kind words.

Any other questions or comments will of course be welcomed :wavehand:

Hi Tony,
Did you modify the Lightwave to allow timed switching of the two sets of four tubes or do they all come on at once? I have looked at the wiring and while the live is very straight forward the neutral end looks like different kettle of fish...

Congrats! Well Done! 10 gallon water changes a week.. I could really get use to that!

Well done Tony. Your head is in the right place and your tank rocks . Thank you for sharing.

Cheers buddy

Ive left it stock so all 8 tubes come on and off together.

It's hard to say if your tank will get better colours, but I would say it is highly likely. Do you have a link to your build thread?

The huge selection of tubes available makes it very easy to adjust the colour spectrum which in turn does effect the coral's colour pigments within the tissue.

I'd say give it a go, if you don't get on with T5s then you can always sell them and go back to halides.

Not a 'proper' update, but I've added some new LPS to create an 'LPS garden' area on the right of the tank.

These LPS may not be $1000+ extreme coral styleey each in value, but I am very pleased with them none the less.

Hope you enjoy the small update..........

Here's the main concentration on the right of the tank:
