SPS tank with a flame angel.

hi RC, just curious, how many people have a SPS system and have a flame angel?

i had one before, until i saw it pick a frag of sunset milli clean. i've never tried another angel again but i've been noticing flame angels in a few sps tanks recently, one being the TOTM. so just curious who has one that doesn't pick on sps? or does it and you just don't care? lol thanks!

It's not usually recommended but some people get lucky with ones that don't nip at corals. Others just deal with the flames occasionally nipping.

We have one in our sps tank for 14 months with no issues so far...We also have a gold flake & blue face angel as well. Model citizens so far (knock on wood!).

definitely a gamble then huh? i just remember tearing my tank apart to get my first one out. quick little things.

Gamble, less so with a mature SPS tank obviously as a bit of niping here and there won't reallly be noticed.

I have had two. The first one I had for 1.5 years never touch coral, but nipped on my squamosa clam. The one I currently have for two years never touch any coral nor clam (knock on wood) and is super fat, almost as thick as it is tall. I feed my tank pretty heavily- at least three times/day and the flame also forage in the rock works throughout the day.
