Ok so once again I come across something that I need some advise on. I ordered new RO/Membrane and new Bulk reef supply Di resigns because i was getting a reading of 3 on my TDS meter. So I made some new water this morning for tomorrows water change. I took out my TDS meter and checked to water and it reads 0 So i was very pleased with my new purchase.

so here is the kicker ,,,,,,, I checked the water in the 5 gallon bucket just for fun sake and the TDS reading was 17 yes 17 this is the bucket that I use to mix the salt in. Is this normal ? I checked the water leaving the RO unit again and it reads 0 so what gives? Is ther a special way to make water so the TDS RO water to stay at 0 until? or is this what happens after using the same bucket for mixing salt.

looking forward to hearing everyone else experiance

Michael

Did you clean the bucket out real good?? The bucket probably has some leftover salt on it and that's why your getting such a high reading. Give a rinse and wipe down and try it again.

Totally normal dust can raise tds levels all that matters is you know the bucket was clean and your output from your rodi was 0..nothing to worry about at all..

And tds pens aren't the most accurate means at all to rely on.

Hi michael:)
+1 on the guys above

I don't know if it's normal but i have the same results.
Not 17 but it ranges from 8-12.

When i bought a new bucket though,so i could do a larger WC the reading on the new bucket was 0.
I guess no matter how good we clean the bucket after the use, some salt always stays and that's what gives us those readings.

Just my exp too and a humble opinion:thumbsup:

Hey guys!

I only use Rubbermaid Brute, or a nicer Poly Pro reservoir.

Rinse out the bucket with DI water thoroughly next time. Anytime you are taking a TDS reading it is always wise to make sure that your container is rinsed out with DI water, meter is calibrated monthly, and that the probes of your meter is rinsed off with DI water.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask.
