SPS Tips for NEWBIES!

thanks for sharing that article, always nice to see what the big dogs are doing. You don't get buff at the gym taking tips from a person smaller than you!

i know this sounds wierd but the author suggested changing water weekly, doesnt this cause a stability problem? i actually found my tank runs better when i change the water every 2-3 weeks

It won't cause any stability issues as long as your new water matches the parameters of your tank water.

The tank is even better in person, simply amazing. And he is a hellva nice guy and not afraid to share he successes with you. The best part of his entire setup is that everything is straightforward and proven. No smoke and mirrors. Great flow, nice MH Radium lighting, Cal Reactor, Kalk Reactor and all the basics; which I love about the tank. I have actually adopted the same practices and eliminated all the BS products, practices and equipment from my 180-gl. setup.

A perfect example of the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) rule. It is to the point and really does sum everything up. Excellent article for someone just getting into or thinking about SPS in their system.

I totally agree and his advice makes reef keeping more enjoyable :love2:

It really should be "Keep it Simple Smart" imho.........

Peruse his TOTM feature, his tread Full Tank Progression and his web site, etc and you will see how awesome a setup he has......one to emulate for sure.

thanks for posting - good stuff. Is there a place to look for such kind of info? exactly good stuff for filling out my base knowledge - would like to keep down on the stupid questions (and mistakes behind them) posted here.... trolling through zillions of posts doesn't seem too productive....

SaltySamurai - There are no stupid questions but I can relate to asking questions that have been asked many times before. Use the search feature to research any questions that you might have. If you can't find an answer there then post the question. You will find that when you search for an answer to one question you gain a lot of knowledge about other things along the way.

The sticky threads at the top of each forum are a good place to start, they are basically frequently asked questions. Then you can do searches to elaborate on the concepts there.

We are all here to gain knowledge and exchange ideas. There are plenty of people here to help you out, don't be afraid to ask.
