SPS tissue bubbling, like a bounce mushroom...

I have a question as to why my purple stylophora does this? there has never been a coral close enough to that side to be stinging it either, that green pocci is a few inches away. It has done this for at least the two years I have been growing it, it's a constant thing but waxes and wanes. I do not frag it there, and it doesnt seem to hurt the coral, it may infact start growing from some of the bubbles at times.
Does anyone else experience this with their stylophora species?
Thank you!

Check your levels:
S.g.?
Mg?
Ca?
Alk?

Especially the Mg. I've found elevated Mg can cause bubbling type growth. Check your test kit is ok too.

I have exactly the same thing on one of my blue acropora stags, had it about a year does seem to have slowed it's growth down significantly.
My magnesium is 1320 checked with salifert but never crossed checked with another kit.
