SPS under PC's

I disagree with people that SPS in a pico is impossible. I have a 5.5g with an ac 70 refugium and have acros and birdnests in my tank. As far as parameters go you just need to be really OCD about water quality and levels. Also an ATO will help greatly. I have an ATO on my tank and my water level never really moves.

I will say though I have a 70 watt MH over my tank so Im not sure about the PC lighting. You might want to check out nanoreef because alot of people have sps in picos over there.

When I first started out I tried SPS in a standard JBJ cube with PC lighting. A green birdsnest did the best, keeping it's color. The other was a montipora and browned within a month. Both were at the top of the tank.

Red cap is almost impossible to kill and needs almost no light to grow

I love red cap but quickly realized what a nightmare it can become because of it's ease, just make sure you keep it isolated cause once it starts fuseing things together it won't stop, lol

it's a waste of time. i tried that 5 years ago and was never successful. they will just die on you. SPS needs powerful lighting. the least would be a t5 and an excellent water quality.
