Bringing home my first clam tonight and having a tough time determining placement in tank. Any suggestions for a Squamosa? He is fairly good size about 5-6 inches long. I have very good lighting in my tank, MH about 7.6 watts/gal. but concerned about flow as i have fairly strong flow in my tank.

clams don't mind strong flow as long as it isn't aimed directly at them. watts per gallon is a little deceiving, but if you have 250's ( listed under your current tanks ) you will be fine. i would place him down on the sand and move him up if you have to. squamies don't require strong lights but i'm sure they will benefit from it.

squamosa's do not like strong flow, i would put him on the bottom of the tank some place where there is less flow. good luck with your new clam, post a pic if you can.
