The scutes are pretty much even from top to bottom and the byssus aperture is narrow like the squamosa but the pigmentation and pattern of the mantle look like a gold maxima.

Maybe hybrid ?

Pretty much everything about its shape and shell says squamosa to me. But the mantle sure looks like a gold maxima. I vote we go with Jim's assesment, "maximosa".

hey guys, can somebody tell me how do you diferenciate between a maxima and a crocea??
