I got a pretty good size peice 3x5" about 6 mos ago, was fairly browned and stressed.
Colored up about 3 mos ago.

Can we see pics? Since you've received it browned out? How do you know they didn't sell you a limeaid or some ssc imposter?

true! hahaha

Here it was a few weeks back and has seemed to get more green and lose some of the pink:

I have a frag of this same stuff and my colour is bland, it's blasting under 3" of water directly under t5 54w. I've had it for 2 months now and while the green has gotten lighter the light pink tips isn't very red. It's still a 2" frag so time will tell I guess....

How far is yours down from the light, maybe try giving it more light to see if it can colour up.

It is only about 8" under water just off center maybe 6" from the MH...which is a 400w plus 4 t-5's. I'd imagine its plenty of light. Can't really move it up now too as it's near top of rock work and encrusted.

I'd agree with this! I think your lights are more than capable. But I'm not sure how to help you, waiting to see what the other keepers think.

Me too? Maybe just time?

Pretty much all other corals seem colored properly.

Red planet is a nice deep red, pink BN looks good,I have a red dragon that has a good pinkish/purple(have it in lower light)

Ok first off the piece is stunning and will only get brighter in time. Now for a few questions if you don't mind..

1) were did you get it from? Is it really true SSC or just what someone sold it to you as?
2) do you feed your sps or your SSC?
3) what I'd your lighting schedule like and what bulbs?
4) if it was browned out then it will require lots of time to color up.

Mine took about 1.5 to 2 months to color up. I have it baking under 400w Radium's with T5 supplements, similar to your setup. Looks to me like a legitimate SSC, time will tell.

1. came from a local wholesaler....so I am pretty sure its a SSC.
2. Nope
3. 2 t-5's for 9.5 hrs, other 2 t-5's for 8.5 hrs (2-ATI Blue+, 1 actinin, 1 purple+) 2 XM 20k stggered a half hr apart and run for 7 hrs.

That is a different variation of SSC. I have it also as well as the SSC that everyone loves. I know a few people with that variation and it just does not get the colour that SSC is known for. In my opinion it's the exporters scamming us by riding the SSC popularity to charge a substantial premium to that similar coral that is not the "true" SSC
