well i saw a bigg st thomas bubble at my LFS for 15$ so i bought it fast.
of course my stupid LFS instead of just giving it to me on the small rock it was on scraped it off with his finger. wow did he beat it up BAD.
i said i wouldnt take it but he said if it dies he will give me my money back so i said alright ill try to save it but next time use a razor.
right now hes in a little plastic container close to my t5's under some rubble with not much flow. his mouth is a little ripped. do you think he will make it? any other better spots to put him? cant put him in any more flow cuz he will float away

Thats strange. You didnt have time to say WTH before he ripped it off? Ive never known and LFS to remove the coral from a rock to sell it.

Can't imagine why they'd take it off a rock unless it was a large one and they were concerned about cost - and that's not a great excuse... I've had a few arrive with bad tears. I usually put mine in a container like you did but away from the light. Let it heal before lighting it up - kind of like a yuma. Revive or vitamin C may be helpful while it heals.

i thought he was grabbing the rock but than he was just started scraping it off.
i said dont you think you should use a razor your beating it up pretty bad and he said he always does it like this. i told him i didnt want to take the risk of it dieing and to keep it but he just said take it and if it dies ill refund it.
its already been in the light for 2-3 days and has seem to made a pretty good recovery so should i still cover it?
picture looks like a yuma but i was almost positive it was a st bubble because the bubbles were massive

Can't see all of the picture, is it just me??
You're right tt does look like a yuma from the pic.

From my experience, St Thomas rics are really hardy. I fragged mine a couple times but one of my larger ones ate my yellow clown goby....soooo I then sold all of them.

Good luck!

If its in good conditions it should recover pretty quickly. You can dice them up really small when fragging and they regrow so this shouldn't be a problem.

Agreed - it's a Yuma. Keep it shaded until it relaxes and reaches for the light - especially since the LFS beat it up. Gentle flow helps if it doesn't blow it away.

+1 I've never done this before but know peeps that have diced them all up and 1 shroom turned into 20.

I have a couple colonies of a very similar yuma at home and have been working with st thomas mushrooms for over a year. The green mouth is a give away. Nice polyp.

Check out another Colin's photos at www.coralmorphologic.com. I can see how an orina torpedo form could look like a yuma.
