Stainless Storage for RO/DI

I have access to a large SS tub I am considering storing RO/DI water in. It has a loose fitting lid and was originally designed as a wash tank (I think). It has never seen grease etc - only solvents like acetone and alcohol and DI water. No rust present. Not sure of the alloy but I might be able to find out. I like the idea because it fits the space I have and is easily modified for bulkheads and its FREE! Its about 15 or 20 gallons I think. Is there any problem w/ using this as a storage tank?

Yes, RO/DI is extremely aggressive and will corrode SS very quickly, you need a food grade plastic container to store DI.

A little story about RO/DI water....When I first set up my RO/DI in my basement, there was a small leak from the ball valve, after about a month, all of the paint had come off of the floor where the leak was :) DI water is just that, de-ionized...it has no charged ions, and is really wanting some ionization and will get it wherever it can. That's why food grade plastic (ie. Brute trashcans), or poly tanks are the only recommended storage vessels for DI water.
