stand build suggestion

hi all.
I am putting together a stand that will support a 48x24x24 tank system weighing all total Approx. 1400 lbs on the top of the stand. and I don't want to use a center brace in front for ease of access. I am trying to decide if I should use 2x6 or 2x8's for top peram frame. Good adice is appreciated.

Given those two choices, a 2X6 is more than sufficient for a 48" span.
