Stand concerns with wavebox

Well i have always been too scared with a wavebox on my 180 because of my stand. Its a professionally made stand, But is scary with the little amt of wood to build it. I know if it is equally balanced it is not a problem, But with that constant pressure going back and fourth i am afraid of a collapse
Is this a legitimate concern?

Wood is incredibly strong on its end grain. I have always felt more comfortable with the oak stands just because I have seen pine stands where the staples missed the mark and they seemed poorly assembled but if the assembly looks OK, I see no reason not to trust it.

Thanks, It is a solid oak stand. Just amazed on how little wood it takes to build one. I seen some diy stands that are built like a sherman tank.
The stand is well made, Maybe i am a little too paranoid.

Oak is really strong, several years ago they had an article in FAMA about how strong wood is and building stands and if I recall a 1 * 4 may only take 200 lbs to break if you sat on it length wise but if it is standing on it's end that same board will take about 1200lbs.

Yeah a lot of DYI stands are way to much wood.

as Roger says; it's partly what kind of wood, partly how it's built.

if you take two 2x4 boards you can put them both to a test and see what happens, if one has the 4" side on the "Side" and the other is FLAT then you add weight at the middle of each..

the flat one will bend, then break while the "ON edge" one will hardly move at all...

plus many folks go buy white pine - a soft wood!

get a good hard oak and let it sit and dry and cut it right and it will be strong as heck.

It's all in the joints it is only as strong as the jointing
