stand height?

I would think 30-36" would be. Remember its your tank make it how you want. I made mine at 40 inc plus my granite and foam makes my tank at 42"

I always as 42 inches because I hate bending over to look into the tank (and I'm short). This has the additional huge benefit of leaving plenty of room under the stand for a tall skimmer, a fluorescent light strip, and a paper towel holder.

I am in the process of building an 8ft L X 40"H X 2Ft D stand for my 75 and 20L to share.

Its huge. I dont think id go above 40" it would be crazy!

Just remember as the stand gets taller, it will get tippier. Nobody wants to bend over, but you don't want a little one hurt by a tank that tipped on them. For tall narrow tanks, think about an attachment to the wall, especially with children.

Very good advice - also make note that you will need a step stool or short ladder to reach the bottom of the tank.

My wife and I enjoy sitting in front of the tank and relaxing. I don't know if a 40" tall stand would allow that. (That is just us though - you know how you will enjoy your tank)

Another good point. My wife and I do use a 2-step folding step stool to get to the bottom of the tank. While this is a little inconvenient, I don't stick my arm in the tank 1/10th as often as I look in it. After living with my 42" tall stand for a year, I'm not going to do much differently when I start building the stand for my 190. I'm for sure not going to make the stand any shorter.

I made my stand 36" tall and my tank is 24" tall (deep). This height allows me to comfortably look into the tank while standing. But more importantly, it is not too high to enjoy the view from my favorite seat in the room. You really need to consider your preferences when choosing. Where do you most view your tank from? Ease of maintenance, stability of stand, etc. Good luck.
