I built a stand for my 65 gallon tank in my cabinet shop. I have a passion for woodworking and fish keeping to put it lightly (new to fish keeping though). Whenever I walk into a fish store I constantly see unimpressive stands. Most stands are made with cheap product- mostly melamine, maybe sometimes mdf. I personally prefer solid wood stands but i am thinking of using MDO if I paint the stands.
I want to make a few stands for my friends and I thought- what a better place to get ideas on making stands that are quality, visually appealing, functional for fish keeping products, as corrosive proof from salter water as possible with minimum maintenance and a stand that complements a tank.
Below are a few parts in thinking about in the stand:
1) cabinet doors or open concept
2) hooks on the inside to hang accessories
3) shelving (adjustable)
4) stained or painted
5) size?
I appreciate any ideas and once I make them I will upload photos/video!
:deadhorse1: closest smiley that involves building!...kinda
