standard NO endcaps on a vho?

I was wondering if i can use a pair of encaps from a NO(i believe that's what there called) for my new VHO's? I have 4 brand new pair and would like to used them if i can.

I've run VHO's on standard endcaps (and just run of the mill whatever home depot had available caps) with no problems at all.

If the end cap is for 'normal output' wattage then I would not use them for VHO. Even the caps made for VHO wattage have had melt downs before; usually when the bulb ends are not all the way in the cap.

oh,that's what i was wondeing!

i prefer to use the tombstone style endcaps if they melt they jsut let the bulb go where as the so called safer moisture resistant ones hold onto the bulb sometimes resulting in horrific fires

If u can get search to work do a search for endcaps and fire u will find some seriously scary stuff

Either will work. The VHO three piece caps are safer IMO. Just make sure the bulbs are properly seated before you turn them on and you will not have a problem.

i understand that and don't doubt you. i was just trying to make light of a grim subject. although, arc fault breakers (different from GFI's) are supposed to prevent fires. i know some newer home codes require them in bedrooms. don't know how effective they are.
